Ancient
China
This kit explores the life and times of ancient China from the beginnings of settled human activity to the time of the first emperor Qin Shi Huang-di around 221 BCE. The kit includes artifacts, classroom activities, books and audio material and while geared towards Social Studies, interdisciplinary collaboration among different departments such as Language Arts or Fine Arts is encouraged. An extensive teacher's guide explains the history and provides for further exploration.

Ancient Egypt
You can have your own classroom exhibit of Egyptian objects and artifacts. Samples of Egyptian writing, scarabs, jewelry, household items and wall fragments from ancient Egyptian structures can be used as display items and as part of your curriculum. Pictures depicting elements of Egyptian lifestyles and art can be used to gather more information about this ancient culture. Ancient Roman Life
Actual artifacts, reproductions of artifacts, pictures of architectural ruins and artwork provide the foundation for students to learn about ancient Roman lifestyles and culture. Study the people and their dress, homes, religion, occupations and recreational activities by examining items in the Kit. Students perform roles of archivist, secretary and chairperson, and use the research notes and guides to question and hypothesize about aspects of ancient Rome.

A House of Ancient Greece
This Kit introduces children to the everyday life of an ancient Greek household and to archeology as a tool for learning about people's lives long ago. Using pictures and reproductions of objects, students play the role of archeologists to solve the puzzles of the "Villa of Good Fortune." The Kit gives students enough information to research independently with the materials at hand.

Travels of Marco Polo
Students can begin to develop an understanding of 13th-century China, one of the "golden ages" in Chinese history. The Kit begins with the "Story of Marco Polo" and one of the first East-West cultural exchanges. Through the story and viewing the slides, students will learn about travel, trade and relative levels of civilization during this time. They will study a famous hand scroll, "Spring Festival on the River," to learn about daily life in China. Students can also bring the scenes to life using the objects, costumes and activities in the Kit. Teacher's and Student's Guides provide information about Marco Polo, China's gifts to the West and activity ideas.

Hopi Culture
This kit introduces both the history of the Hopi's ancestors and the many important artistic traditions sustained today. Artifacts include ancient pottery shards, historic and modern Katsina dolls; modern children's books; Hopi music and a video, maps and extensive photographs. Making clay pottery and tracking a 1500-year timeline are among the many activities in this kit. A teacher's guide and background information are included.

Mexican Crafts, Games and Toys
This kit is designed to enrich a classroom or after-school unit on Mexico by exposing children to the objects, designs, colors, music, games, and images of traditional Mexican culture. Using objects and toys, kids learn first hand and discover their commonality with kids in Mexico. By learning and enjoying the cup and ball game, for example, students can come to understand that Mexican children and children from the United States are alike in enjoying similar kinds of play.

Native American Games
The Bowl Game, Moccasin Game and Ring and Pin toys hint at the variety and richness of the Native American cultures. The ring and pin games are made by the Iroquois. The bowl game is a reconstruction of an old Passamaquoddy dice game and the Moccasin game is a guessing game. Books, photographs, game directions and print materials are included to give students more information on historical and contemporary Indian life.

Powwow and Strawberry Thanksgiving
Powwows are Native American social and ceremonial events which are held all over the United States throughout the year. They are important for the preservation and sharing of Indian heritage. Strawberry Thanksgiving is a festival held in June to honor the early summer moon - the "strawberry moon." People who eat the strawberries and participate in the festival must forgive past disagreements. With the artifacts in the kit -- Native American hand-made moccasins, beaded cap, baskets and clay pot -- you can hold a powwow or a strawberry thanksgiving.

The Wampanoag People: Our Untold Story
Formerly known as: The Indians Who Met the Pilgrims
The descendants of the Indian nation that helped the Pilgrims, the Wampanoags, are alive and continue to value their Indian heritage. This Kit was developed by the Wampanoag people. They contributed their sense of traditional culture, their family experiences, and their concerns about historical and contemporary events. By traveling through over four hundred years of history, this kit covers the themes of oral history, environment, colonization and celebrations. Through a variety of media, children are introduced to the history, culture and land of the Wampanoag people. Artifacts, maps, photographs, games, activities and multi-media are some of the items that give kids insight about the "Indians Who Met the Pilgrims."
