Rolling, swirling, turning, jumping—it’s not just the kids that are active at Boston Children’s Museum! In Raceways, part of the John Hancock Science Playground, children can explore the laws of motion by rolling golf balls along a wide variety of exciting tracks. How far will a golf ball launch off of a ski jump? Does the shape of the jump or the length that it drops make a difference? Children investigate these and other questions on golf ball ski jumps, loops, roller coasters, giant spirals and more. All of these activities encourage children to come up with their own questions, develop experiments that will help them answer those questions, and then try their tests again. Parents are invited to join in the fun too, and will have a hard time saying no!

Raceways is also supported by contributions from Jeptha and Emily Wade, The Kenneth J. Germeshausen Foundation, and the Growdon Family.
