The weekend kicks off Friday, October 4 at 4:30pm with a jubilant “Happy Birthday” and a delicious piece of birthday cake created by Montilio’s Baking Company. Then, continues with the Remix of the Ages dance party led by youth and supported by adults. Activities will include a DJ battle, generation themed dance lessons and dance battles featuring the Boston Celtics’ Dancers ‘Lil Phunk, the ICA DJ Collective, and Urbanity Dance. The 500 member Boston Children’s Chorus will perform, “I Am a River of Hope” a song written and composed by Jim Papoulis for the Museum’s 100th birthday.

Saturday, October 5 is a full day of family-friendly programs and events including the National Grid Tinker Tent filled with science and hands-on making and fixing activities, and performances by Urbanity Dance through the Ages, Revels, the Afro-Brazilian Ensemble, and Iskwelahang Pilipino Rondalla. Then, the celebration takes to the sea (actually the Boston Harbor) and floats into action with the Inflatable Cake Tour around the Boston Harbor making stops at 1 Marina Drive, Charlestown Navy Yard and the New England Aquarium.
Saturday evening, the Museum will celebrate and commemorate this important anniversary at a festive black tie Gala at the InterContinental Boston Hotel. All of the proceeds raised will go directly to supporting the Museum’s mission of providing a hands-on, multisensory environment that sparks the imagination and curiosity of children, and ensuring that we are able to welcome all children through our extensive discounted/free membership program.
From 9pm until 1am the party continues with Up Too Late – The Party of a Century! The Museum will be bursting at the seams with dancing, food, drink, and unexpected delights as party-goers stay “Up Too Late” and celebrate Boston Children’s Museum's 100th birthday.
The festive weekend concludes on Sunday, October 6 with visiting artists, live animals, New Balance games, and performers Karen Montanaro, Boston Bhangra, and Boston Ballet senior students.
