Tech Kitchen

Come make something! Discover your inner inventor when you participate in our new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, Math) program, Tech Kitchen. Tech Kitchen, which happens most Saturdays, features a wide range of hands-on activities including staff-led workshops and interaction with local tech innovators. Makers, young and old, can experiment with tools and technology and experience a wide range of interactive activities from hammering to coding to sewing to circuitry.

Tech Kitchen will regularly host local entrepreneurs, established tech companies, start-ups, inventors and tinkerers to share their latest inventions with Museum visitors. Past innovators have shared new products including video games, electronic equipment, state-of-the-art building blocks, and kid-friendly apps with visitors. These programs offer a fun way for children and grown-ups to engage with members of Boston’s technology community, learn about real-world STEAM applications, and explore something new together! Examples of tech innovators who have participated in Tech Kitchen:

  • BOSEBuild - Sent its BOSEBuild division to pilot a DIY Bluetooth speaker system that is under development
  • iRobot - Brought several robots and robot prototypes
  • Me-J - Shared their new digital music application with visitors young and old
  • Trivium - Prototyped a fully interactive art history experience in development for an art museum
  • Unruly Studios – Showcased prototypes of its Splat! coding game interactive
  • Velcro - Displayed their new Velcro building blocks in the Tech Kitchen where visitors built race cars, dinosaurs, and robots
  • Woobo - Highlighted their high-tech children’s toy that uses artificial intelligence to promote learning and exploration in young children

Tech Kitchen is sponsored by National Grid and BNY Mellon.
