
Join us as we read books that share the many traditions of the holidays and then participate in an art activity that encourages reflection on your own family and community traditions.
All events take place at 1:30 and 2:30 in The Common.
Saturday, December 14: Tree of Cranes
Stop by as we start our Holiday Storytime series with a reading of the book, Tree of Cranes by Allen Say. In this book, a Japanese American women living in Japan teaches her son about how she celebrated Christmas when she was growing up in California.

Sunday, December 22: Antlers with Candles
Antlers with Candles by Chris Barash tells the story of a young boy who uses a menorah to dress up as a moose and knocks over his father’s things. His father has him help clean up while explaining Chanukah and how and why their family celebrates the holiday.

Sunday, December 29: Together for Kwanzaa
Together for Kwanzaa by Juwanda G. Ford tells the story of how Kayla loves Kwanzaa, but is sad hwon’t be able to get home from college in time to celebrate the holiday. As each day passes and she waits for her brother, she reflects on the seven principles of Kwanzaa.

Sunday, January 5: Federico and the Magi’s Gift
In Federico and the Magi’s Gift by Beatriz Vidal, four-year old Federico hopes the Magi will bring him the toy horse he asked for on Three Kings Day, but he worries he has not behaved well enough to get the horse. Unable to sleep, he sneaks outside at night and looks at the stars.
